A note from Linda (Syverson) Stinar, as website administrator:

I received the following email from Christy Sauro Jr. last week.  As many of you may know, he is the author of a non-fiction book published in 2006 titled The Twins Platoon.  He has recently had another book published in 2025 and it is available now. The purpose of his email was to reach out to people about this newest book and he is seeking to find information for 36 of the 150 original Twins Platoon members in order to publish the stories of their lives since the original book was published.  Most of the 150 original members have been located and their stories are now in this newest book.  I personally have read the original book a couple of times and I can highly recommend it.  I will be purchasing the new book.

Here is the email:

“The Legacy of the Twins Platoon” a nonfiction book published in 2025.

I am the author of this book. I apologize if the following sounds a bit presumptuous on my part. Several members of the Twins Platoon and their siblings attended your high school – mainly in the class of 1967. Examples: James Bain, Russ Adamson, and Judy Neuman. And if I recall correctly, Timothy Sather, Robert Gates, Diane Schmidt and her 4 siblings all went to Roosevelt. Their stories are in the book. And there may be more members who went to your school that I am not aware of. The names and photos of all 150 members are in the book, so that can be determined. The book has been very well received. The details about that can be viewed by visiting the 3 websites shown below.

Sadly, there are 36 members of the Twins Platoon that I have not been able to locate. I want to inform them, or their loved ones, about the new book and to let them know they are pictured in it. I want all the Twins Platoon members to get the recognition they deserve for their military service.  About ninety percent of the Twins Platoon were sent to Vietnam and into the I Corpse area. The stories in the book are reflective of what they experienced.  There is a 6-minutes You Tube video “Help Find These Marines” that shows the name and photo of each unlocated member.  If you watch the following video you may recognize some of the missing 36.

If there was a desire, I would be happy to donate a book to your school library and to teachers who could put them to good use. I think if the students knew that many of the stories in the book are about graduates from their own high school that could make learning about the Vietnam War much more interesting and meaningful.

Respectfully, Chris
